Welcome to The Feeling’s Mutual!
You’re probably wondering what this is. Well to be honest I’m not quite sure either. It’s a work in progress. So let’s start at the beginning...
I’m a 23 year old Londoner who in the past year has had a quarter life crisis (when did that become a thing?!) and questioned just about every aspect of my life. During this time (and not for the first time in my life) I felt a crippling sense of loneliness. And also during this time I realised- I’m not alone in feeling alone.
Not to sound cliche but I’ve been on a bit of a journey. And that journey has led me to the revelation that there’s a lot of people who feel exactly the same as me. They feel unsure about their future, unable to pursue their true passions and disconnected from the people around them. Regardless of class, gender, ethnicity or upbringing; we all wish for the same things. A nice home, a loving family, freedom and above all a connection with others. In modern life, particularly in the city, we are lacking a sense of community and belonging.
My experience over the last year has shown me ways in which we can start to combat these problems. I’ve attended talks and events, listened to podcasts and read books by really great people who are working together to shape the future of work, community and culture. They’re ripping up the rule books, challenging the norm and inspiring others to live a full and unique life. Along the way I’ve had heart warming conversations with strangers who feel like old friends, and been more honest and open with the people in my life. As a result I now feel braver, more excited and more passionate than I ever have. I want to get involved, have conversations and bring people together. Which leads us to now.
I’m not sure exactly what this space will be but I’m going to explore the topic of togetherness and random other subjects that interest me including books, food, charities, inspirational figures and random thoughts. Who knows, they might interest you too. I want to explore the things that connect us, the moments that fill our soul with happiness and make us think ‘The Feeling’s Mutual’. That soul soaring feeling when you realise your work colleague likes the same niche band as you, that person on the train is reading the same life-changing book as you or your new friend loves the same movie that you do.
That's the start, let's see where we end up.
